Here is a running and driving 1970 Corvette Coupe project car. The trim tag codes are: Trim 400 Black, Paint 993 Corvette Bronze, Build Date of C10
This car was a very low option car, having only a radio. It has no power steering, no power brakes, no A/C, and no Tilt/Tele. This is a non-original motor car, but it does have the original numbers matching M-20 4spd. The rear is a 3.08, and I am not certain if it is original. The frame is excellent with no rot. The windshield frame appears to be the same way. This car was garaged for much of its life.
This car is running and driving, but it needs work. The most immediate thing it needs now is the flywheel needs to be replaced. The teeth on the ring gear are very worn and will soon be gone, making the car difficult if not impossible to start. I am an old guy, and at my age, I just dont feel like rolling around under the car pulling the transmission, bell housing, and clutch to replace the the flywheel.
I bought this car with damage to the front fiberglass. I removed all the damaged body parts and bought an OEM used front clip at Carlisle and installed it. I also installed a new front valance. The front clip still needs some minor bodywork and surface filling. During the repair process, I replaced the core support, core support cross member, fan shroud, front bumper extensions, and front bumper center support.
The car has new stainless steel sleeved calipers, all new brake hoses, new brake pads, new rear shocks, new rear spring and mounting kit, new u-joints, new strut rod bushings, new master cylinder, new exhaust system, new radiator, new headlight vacuum actuator seals, new idler arm, new speedometer cable, new accelerator cable, new gas pedal, and new front sway bar links.
The engine is built up with Edelbrock aluminum heads, Torker intake manifold, and headers; it was that way when I bought it. The stock style tach drive distributor has a Mallory electronic ignition module.
The interior looks to be original. It needs carpet, door panels, and seat covers. All gauges work except the clock and the odometer. It has an aftermarket radio. The windshield is ok for a driver, but has some pretty deep wiper marks.
I have the headlight buckets, turn signal grilles, front bumper guards, the windshield wiper grille, the windshield wiper door trim, the top fender trim pieces, the side scripts, the side egg crate grilles, and the rocker panels. These all go with the car. The only thing that does not go with the car is the Hurst T-handle. I do not have any documetation, and the tank sticker is not there.
The car starts and runs fine, but appears to have a cam with a lot of overlap, as it has a pretty lumpy idle. The clutch, transmission, and rear all seem fine. The car stops well. There is some play in the steering, as if the steering box needs adjusting or something is worn. The car needs the bodywork finished, paint, interior items listed above, tires, front bumper, front center grille, and a bunch of little detail things. As you can see, I have put a lot of work in the car already.
I have a clear Maryland title in my name. If you are local, please feel free to come have a look at the car. It is on my lift, so you can look it over in detail.
